Article 13

Part installation, part memorial, and part documentary, Article 13 takes a collection of smaller pieces (all of which feature fire, water, and sand in some way) and weaves them together to illuminate the struggles and stories of immigration. It puts a human face on the many immigrants who disappear or die along their journey to cross borders to a better life.

The collaboration between France's Compagnie Carabosse and Mexico's Teatro Linea de Sombra combines statistics, economics,  politics, and personal stories to create an incredible, thought-provoking, and moving piece using song, music, visuals, and spoken word (and occasionally silence) to reminds us that, at the very basis of immigration issues, we are all human beings.

The April 8-10 performances, part of the Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts, served as the American premier of Article 13.
